What an incredible day of achievement, celebration and inspiration! The 41st annual Women of the Year Luncheon & Awards took place at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Friday 13th October, welcoming almost 600 guests to celebrate the achievements of exceptional women from across the UK.
With over 300 nominations received from across the country, three outstanding winners were recognised across our award categories: Business Woman of the Year, Freeths Woman with Edge and Woman of Achievement.
From inspiring business leaders and courageous changemakers to women whose contributions have shaped our society, the 2023 awards celebrated the power of women to challenge expectations, open doors and inspire others.
It was a particularly special year as we recognised the pioneering achievements of the Women of the Windrush, paying tribute to 75 years of contribution to British society, culture and communities.
A day filled with inspiring stories, powerful performances and a real sense of women supporting women. Congratulations to our very deserving winners!
Clair Heaviside, Co-Founder and Creative Director of award-winning digital agency Serotonin, was named Business Woman of the Year.
Impressing the judges with her positivity, sincerity and calm confidence, Clair has played a huge part in growing the Manchester-based agency into a successful business with a team of 20, working with clients across the globe.
Eleanor Deeley, Joint Managing Director of the Deeley Group, received the Freeths Woman with Edge Award in recognition of her commitment to creating greater access and diversity within the construction industry.
Having started out helping at her grandfather’s construction offices as a child, Eleanor has gone on to become a leading voice in an industry where women remain underrepresented, challenging the status quo and opening doors for others.
The prestigious Woman of Achievement award was presented to the Women of the Windrush, recognising their pioneering accomplishments over the past 75 years.
Their contribution to British society has been extraordinary, from the workforce to the rich cultural influence they have brought through music, art, sport, traditions and community life.
Accepting the award to a standing ovation, representatives included Catherine Ross, founder of the UK’s only Caribbean heritage museum, and celebrated author GM Linton. A powerful and deserved tribute to generations of women who have helped shape the country we live in today.
