Jemma is the creative force behind The Brook Biscuits, a homegrown baking business born from a love of baking and a leap of faith during a career pause.

When her statutory maternity leave ended in July 2022, Jemma and her husband made the decision that she would stay at home for 12 months to care for their children, after realising that nursery fees would exceed £3,000 per month – more than she would earn working full time.

Having baked for as long as she can remember for family and friends, Jemma was encouraged to turn her passion into a small business. In October 2022, The Brook Biscuits was launched, offering postal deliveries and local collections. Since then, she has sent out over 600 postal deliveries of her handmade biscuits.

Juggling full-time parenting of a 3-year-old and a 17-month-old, Jemma transforms her evenings into baking sessions once the little ones are asleep. She produces between 2000-300 biscuits each week for a range of occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, hen parties, weddings, and seasonal celebrations such as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. She also showcases her creations at local events and was thrilled to win Best Stall at the Worcester Victorian Christmas Fayre 2024, standing out among 220 stalls.

Jemma’s work has been recognised at a national level, creating 80 bespoke biscuits for the Women of the Year launch event in January 2023. The response was overwhelmingly positive, leading to individual Biscuit Boxes being sent to all ten 2023 Awards finalists.

In 2024, she proudly created and delivered 20 individual boxes to each of the finalists. She looks forward to continuing her collaboration with the Women of the Year team and supporting The King’s Trust Women Supporting Women initiative in the years to come.

With both children starting school in September 2025 and a brand new kitchen and storage space underway, Jemma is excited to grow The Brook Biscuits and take the business to new heights.
