The late Baroness Helen Newlove was an inspirational leader, advocate and coach who transformed personal tragedy into a lifetime of public service and empowerment.

Appointed to the House of Lords in 2010, Baroness Newlove became a symbol of resilience and dedication to community safety, victim support and social justics.

Following the tragic death of her husband, Garry Newlove in 2007, she channelled her grief into action, becoming a tireless campaigner against anti-social behaviour and youth violence.

Best known for her role as Victims’ Commissioner for England and Wales from 2012–2019 and in October 2023, she was re-appointed for an interim period of 12 months.

Helen worked tirelessly to reform victim services, ensuring that the needs of victims were placed at the heart of the criminal justice system.

Her story is one of remarkable courage and strength, and her unwavering commitment to helping others makes her a role model for aspiring leaders, advocates and changemakers across the UK.

Baroness Newlove passed away after a short illness in November 2025.
